Spyros Kalimeris grew up in the southern suburbs of Athens and studied medicine at the University of Crete, graduating in 2004. His strong interest in people, neuroscience, and mental health led him to specialize in psychiatry.
He completed his psychiatric training in Athens, earning the title of Specialist Psychiatrist, with extensive clinical experience at the Attica Psychiatric Hospital, including two psychiatric clinics and the Special Psychogeriatric Department (Bodossakeio). He also trained in neurology at the Second University Neurological Clinic of Attikon University General Hospital.
His experience includes work as a rural doctor at the General Hospital of Lamia and Domokos Health Center, as a military physician in Lesvos island and Athens, and later as a clinical psychiatrist at the “Galini” psychiatric clinic.
Dr. Kalimeris is a certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, trained at the First Psychiatric University Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and EPIPSY (Research University Institute of Mental Health). He continues to expand his expertise by integrating innovative psychotherapeutic approaches into his practice.
He has participated in clinical research projects, delivered lectures at psychiatric and neurological conferences, and maintains a strong commitment to lifelong learning through regular participation in scientific seminars on psychiatry and psychopharmacology. Between 2022-2025, he has been a scientific associate of the Panhellenic Association of Adapted Activities ALMA for individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities.
A significant part of his work involves providing accessible, evidence-based information on mental health through his online platform since 2012, contributing to public awareness and reducing stigma around mental illness.
Dr. Kalimeris is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), the Hellenic Psychiatric Association (HPA), the Hellenic-American Psychiatric Association (HAPA), and the Hellenic Neuropsychological Society (HNPS).
His pursuit of advanced, patient-centered treatment methods led him to specialize in repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS). He holds an rTMS certification from Maastricht University, accredited by the UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists), and applies rTMS therapy for depression and other mental disorders at the Smart CNS Center in Athens, which he co-founded and currently manages.
Dr. Kalimeris is currently active at Smart CNS Center and his private practice in Athens, offering comprehensive psychiatric, psychotherapeutic and modern neuromodulation services. He lives in Athens with his wife and two children.
